Attendance

Start of the School Day

Pupils should arrive between 8.30am and 8.35am. Any arrivals between 8.35am and 8.50am will be marked as late. Arrivals after this time will be marked as absent, using the appropriate register code.

Sickness absence

Should your child be absent due to illness, we ask that you telephone the school by 8.45am and continue to do so on each subsequent morning that the child is absent. Please do not use Class Dojo to inform the school of absences. If you are unable to speak to someone at school directly, please leave an answer phone message, and a member of staff will call you back. Please don't be offended by this; we are just ensuring the care of our pupils.

Leave of Absence During Term Time

Children should not be taken out of school during term time. Taking your child out of school during term time may harm your child’s academic progress.

Absences may only be authorised at the discretion of the Headteacher in EXCEPTIONAL circumstances. Holidays will not be considered an exceptional circumstance and will not be authorised.

Circumstances which are notified to the school or Local Authority after a decision has been made by the Headteacher will not be considered. Therefore please be certain to provide details of the exceptional circumstances when you apply and attach any supporting evidence.

In all circumstances of absence, a written application using the school absence  request form must be made by the parent with whom the pupil normally resides in advance of the  absence and a date for the pupil’s return to school agreed.  It is expected that the form is submitted at least 4 weeks in advance.
